An ambitious project for the Corvin Castle – a € 7.5 mil investment
The town hall of Hunedoara, the home of the famous Corvin Castle, obtained recently an approval from the Ministry of Culture, for an ample project which will rehabilitate and revitalize completely the famous castle. The estimates sum for this will be at around 7.5 million euros.
„We wish to obtain the sum in order to fully restore the castle, starting with its roof, stone and wood elements from inside and ending with the museum pieces which will be displayed in every room of the great monument. The project is very diverse and we have real hopes that it will be done. Possibly it will be done next year.” Says the Corvin Castle Manager, Costin Tinca.
Dozens of new attraction
The project includes, besides the restoration processes, bringing 20 new attractions within or in the immediate vicinity of the monument. Most of them will be behind the castle.
Under the main bridge leading into the castle they wish to reconstruct a medieval mill, which stood here until the 18th and 19th century. To the right of the bridge, in the lower part, on the plateau next to the Zlasti creek, there will be an amphitheater, which will have stables under the stands, for horses and a small group of guards. There will also be a little playground for children, whilst on the other side of the castle there will be a fountain and a small restaurant.
In the back they will built a jousting arena, a blacksmith a fountain and a small restaurant. There will also be a period horse stable and a grand terrace from which to admire the great view.
With these new attractions, the entire area of the castle will be changed and, together with the many medieval festivals announced to be organized in these new facilities, the Corvin Castle will most likely become the most important medieval monument of Romania.
