You’ve decided to visit Romania this year for Sf Valentine’s day, but don’t really have any idea what to do? You really don’t need to worry, as you can choose any of these great places in our country.
Predeal Ski Resort
The little mountain resort of Predeal can offer love birds not only the fresh mountain air, and the possibility to practice winter sports, on one of the most popular slopes of the country. And if you’re not really into speeding down a mountain, then keep in mind that there are other attractions as well: Seven Stairs Canyon, Tamina Waterfall, The Ice Cave, The Rasnov Citadel and Gorge, The Lower Timis Monastery and the St. Constantin and Elena Church.
Sinaia Ski Resort
It is, as many have said before, the most beautiful of all the mountain resorts of Romania. It holds some of the most important historical sights our country has to offer, filled with amazing stories and romance. You can choose to have a walk through the resort itself, filled with century old houses, belonging to barons from the 19th century, or you can choose to visit Peles or Pelisor Castles, the most beautiful reminders of the royal days of Romania. Sports are also a great option, as the nearby Bucegi mountains offer the highest skiing area of the country, more than 2000 meters up, on the Bucegi Plateau.
The area around the small Transylvanian village of Bran is a pure definition of rustic, a place where the landscape is mixed in with fairy tales and legends. And of course, the main attraction if Bran Castle, but one can also visit the nearby bear reservation, go shopping in Brasov (20 minutes away), or enjoy the great local cuisine in any of the many pensions in the area.
Bucovina and Northern Moldavia
If it’s peace you’re looking for, then possibly the best place to visit would be Bucovina, Land of Monasteries. A visit at the ancient monasteries, unique in the world because of their exterior frescoes, they will offer moments of peace and meditation and, who knows, maybe you’ll want to take the big step in one of them. 🙂
A special place of the touristic map of Romania, Balea Lake can be a very good idea for love birds on St Valentine’s Day. Visitors here will have the unique opportunity to check into the famous Balea Lake Ice Hotel, together with spending a few days on the mountain tops, in some of the greatest sceneries the Carpathians have to offer.
